Dire Moon Academy

A 'School' for young witches and wizards

Step into a world where imagination leads the way and learning is shaped by curiosity, nature, and creativity. Dire Moon Academy offers thoughtfully crafted workshops for young witches and wizards, where storytelling, hands-on making and imaginative exploration come together to spark confidence, creativity, and wonder.

Inside the Academy

At Dire Moon Academy, each term is thoughtfully designed as a series of six hands-on workshops, held fortnightly over three months.
Every session is filled with imagination, teamwork, independence, and of course... fun!
Each child will have their own role and responsibilities, working alongside friends of different ages to learn, create, and uncover magical secrets together.

Each workshop is led by myself, Charlie, Head of Dire Moon Academy, alongside two magical guides, who are fully DBS-checked. I am paediatric first aid trained, ensuring a safe and supportive environment for every young witch and wizard.Every “lesson” is brimming with magic, imagination, teamwork, independence, and discovery. Weather permitting, we will spend at least an hour and a half exploring the wonders of nature, gathering ingredients for our magical creations, and on sunnier days, we may even spend the entire lesson outdoors, though our home base is always the “schoolroom” at Weston Parish Hall. Our outdoor adventures will lead us to the local graveyard, just round the corner from the hall, and onwards up through the fields and streams behind Weston Park. Both locations are peaceful and safe — we only cross one quiet road — and all children will wear high-visibility jackets during our magical explorations.

Please Note:

Each workshop stretches over four magical hours, giving young witches and wizards plenty of time to explore, craft, bond, and work independently, where there’s no rush, only wonder and discovery.Workshops are a drop-off experience for children aged 4 to 16.This is not a formal school. I am not a qualified teacher, and this workshop does not provide official education.
Children will engage in imaginative play, exploration, and creative activities.
Through these activities, children may encounter concepts related to English, maths and science, but this is part of playful discovery, not structured teaching.
The workshop is designed to be fun, magical, and exploratory, giving children the chance to be creative, curious, and active.
